    Question

As most of you know I put a turbo in my Civic this week. Its the Greddy 92-95 Civic EX kit that I put on a ZC.

I am only running 5 pounds of boost, and upgrades to the engine are only, Fuel Pressure Regulater "came with the turbo kit", colder spark plugs, lowered the timing on the engine.

The car runs fine when Im hitting boost, no pinging etc. Is there anything I should worry about getting if I keep the car at 5 pounds of boost. The guys at options told me if I keep it at 5 pounds I shouldnt have to upgrade anything else in the engine.

Hey June so far the car is running great, only issue Im having is Im dripping some oil from the pan when I took it off, one of the bolts might be stripped! frown Its leaking like a drop of oil a night. The exhaust is really silent now! I just hope I dont need anymore fuel managment/ignition with this setup.

Just make sure your using synthetic oil and that's it's clean...everyone I've ever known changed there oil quite often because of the heat and increased amounts of natural blowby in the crankcase. It's really important.

Keep an eye on fuel pressure and I'd actually change the fuel line/fuel filter configuration. Your not gonna need it until you go past 8~11 lbs, but the fitings are restrictive. I would run the K&N or a Domestic off-the-shelf inline canister style filter with A&N fittings that you can purchase form a parts store (brass) but you'll never have a leak (pressure leak) and you won't run out of fuel because of supply problems.

I don't think your gonna have a problem with this know, and most people never experience one...but oil breaks down with heat, less with synthetics, but still does. When you start boosting 8+...you will want an oil cooler.

However Eric, sounds like there really isn't anything but preventive and routine maintenance that you need to do on that engine.

I'd make sure the down-pipe clearance is good on the front crossmember.
Oh one recommendation. If you haven't done it....please go back and pull the nuts off the exhuast manifold and antiseize them. Same thing goes for most of those bolts....anywhere there is heat. They will basicallt oxidize and weld themselves together and that sucks.
And let me know if your still running a converter....I was told it would foul things up and cause more backpressure and there would be more heat on the turbine....but I'm not sure if this was all hype at under 8 lbs.

Jon Im not using Synethetic, should I be? I heard its better for the turbo but not good for the engine.

Im also using a high flow cat, my temp gauge is reading fine, nothing odd there.

No synthetic oils was what I was told...I will ask the shop in Indiannapolis for their opinion...they run an 11 second streeted Civic Coupe, I think they recently made a 10 second hatch though and transferred the engine...but Joe knows alot...there SSC - awesome shop.

The cat won't be a problem unless your not burning fuel like you should. You see it carbon's up the converter. It will stay fine at the levels your running, but most guys with boost will run it rich to stay safe. It's almost insurance from detonation. Run that cat, and all your doing is just basically filtering carbon and making restrictions...heat and backpressure. Think about it and it will make sense. But it's only a problem if it happens. So maybe take the cat off in a couple of weeks and look at it. Like I said also...antiseize the bolts, they will back right off like you just put them on if you do. Makes things easier...Cat bolts and Exhuast manifold bolts are a bitch when they heat up and oxidize.

Actually email the guy. His addres is as follows:
    [email protected]
his name is Joe, real good guy.
